Time and Place

Seminars will take place between September and May. If we have visiting researchers, we may organise some seminars over the summer period. Typically, we will aim for 9-10 seminars in a calendar year. We will aim to have the seminars on a Wednesday at 1-2pm in Cottrell 2V1, although this is subject to change. Please see the event adverts on this website or the Timetable document on Teams for the latest dates and speakers.

Teams/SharePoint

There is a dedicated channel (‘research seminars’) on the BES Community Teams page, with a folder which will keep a live version of the seminar schedule and associated advertising materials. To access these materials, click in ‘Files’ at the top of the screen when in the research seminars channel. Alternatively, you can view these in a browser via this link. The Teams page is only available to BES staff and PhD students.

Attendance

Whilst you may not necessarily see a direct link to your own research, we will encourage presenters to explore areas of their work, such as research methods, that can be applied across multiple disciplines. Seminars are a great way to improve the research culture at the University and can generate new ideas and collaborations.

The seminars will be in-person at the University campus. We will aim to have these in a consistent space and at a consistent time, although this may not always be possible due to room booking clashes or having visiting researchers in the department for a short period. Any changes to the normal times/venues will be communicated ASAP and clearly in all promotional material/posts.

If you can’t make it in person, we will endeavour to:
