Social Murder? Austerity and Life Expectancy in the UK

This seminar is open to all staff, students and affiliates of the University of Stirling. The seminar is hosted by Biological and Environmental Sciences (BES).

Abstract: David Walsh will discuss his and Gerry McCartney’s new book (published in November 2024) which presents all the evidence for the horrific impacts of UK Government ‘austerity’ policies on health and health inequalities. Further details of the book are available here.

Bio: David Walsh is a Senior Lecturer in Health Inequalities in the School of Health & Wellbeing at the University of Glasgow, where he has been in post since February 2024. Prior to that, he spent many years working in research roles within the NHS, including 17 years as Programme Manager at the Glasgow Centre for Population (GCPH).
